Secure outbound link management

More control over where links go and what gets reported.

A publishing team needed more than a basic redirect plugin. We built a WordPress tool that keeps destinations manageable for editors, checks click activity and passes useful records into a wider reporting system.

Illustrative activity only

The requirement

A redirect alone did not provide enough control.

Editors needed a dependable way to manage a growing set of destinations. The business also needed to understand the context of accepted activity without filling reports with repeated, automated or invalid requests.

  • Give editors one place to manage outbound destinations
  • Check click activity before adding it to reports
  • Keep useful article and link-position context
  • Provide an activity view and straightforward export
  • Pass accepted records into wider reporting

What we built

A publishing tool, not just a list of redirects.

The WordPress interface gives editors a clear place to manage links, while the checks and reporting work quietly around the reader journey.

01

Managed destinations

Editors can create and maintain outbound links from a familiar WordPress administration screen.

02

Useful click context

Accepted activity keeps the page, position, device and referral context needed for later review.

03

Practical checks

Invalid, repeated and automated requests can be separated from activity that belongs in reporting.

04

Connected reporting

Accepted records can be reviewed locally, exported and passed into the central attribution workflow.

Activity detail

A record with useful context

Accepted

Instead of a bare click total, the record keeps the information needed to understand where the activity came from.

Fictional example

The workflow

From managed link to useful record.

The reader still reaches the destination quickly. The additional work gives the publishing team a more controlled and reviewable record behind the scenes.

  1. 01

    Manage the destination

An editor creates or updates the outbound destination within WordPress.

  2. 02

    Route the reader

The published link sends the reader through a controlled redirect to the intended destination.

  3. 03

    Check the activity

The request is checked and useful page, position and device context is attached.

  4. 04

    Use the record

Accepted activity appears in reporting and can be passed to the wider attribution platform.

The outcome

Outbound links became a manageable part of publishing operations.

The finished plugin brings destination control, activity checks, useful context and the reporting hand-off into one WordPress workflow.
